Excursions for those who adore mountains and the Greek
tradition at the villages of Palios Panteleimonas
(traditional settlement) or the ones of Palia Skotina and
even higher, crossing the forestall area of Kato Olympos as far as
Kallipefki (dry lake of plateau of Nizeros) and
Karia of Olympos. From that point you can descend
from the new forestall road Karia – Drama, after you visit the
Monastery of Kanaloi at Olympos.
●
Another interesting route is the visit of Litohoro,
taking a walk in the Gorge of unique beauty Enipeas
and then going up by car to Olympos until the site Prionia,
with an intermediate stop at the Old Monastery of Agios Dionisios.
There is the possibility for the walkers to descent from Prionia,
inside the river-bed of Enipeas until the Monastery of Agios
Dionisios, admiring the small waterfalls and the little lakes that
Enipeas is forming (1-1½ hour).
●
From Prionia also, the climbing to the top of Olympos begins (Mitikas
2917 mt.) either within the same day or with an overnight stay
at the shelter of the
Agapitos Cave
(Zolotas) (2100 mt.)
●
In
addition, very interesting is the visit to the
archaeological site of Diou and the archaeological
museum, which is situated there.
●
Magnificent are also the excursions to the villages
of Kato Olympos, Krania and Rapsani (regions with
production of Wine) with visit to the local vineyards (Katsaros
and Tsandalis)
●
In
the opposite side of the famous
Valley of
Tempi
over Kissavos (Ossa) there is
the well-known settlement of Ambelakia, where in the
18th century the First Union of Joint Partnership in
Greece was formed even under the Turkish slavery. Still exists in
the village the famous mansion of
